Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The location was super convenient. It was a short walk to both Waterloo metro station and Redfern train station with lots of local eateries and grocery shops within walking distance. The single floor apartment was very spacious and there was a large selection of crockery provided. The coffee machine was a nice addition to the appliances available. The eco-aspect of the building was very interesting with lots of greenery and energy efficient features like ceiling fans instead of air conditioning. Good communication by the owner/property manager was appreciated when they gave us a heads up that they needed to access the plants on the internal balcony so there were no surprises.

Negative: The apartment was in decent condition but felt a bit tired and run down. There were wobbly joinery panels in the kitchen (especially the one for the garbage drawer) and a cracked power point face plate. The floorboards had obvious signs of wear and some water stains, especially at the entrance and bathroom doorways. The garbage area in the basement was fairly dark and dingy with lots of little gnats buzzing around the bins. We're also unsure about the frequency of cleaning as there was a pair of sneakers in the drawer and one stained pillow under pristine pillowcases that we didn't notice on arrival. It was only brought to our attention after we checked out and the property manager messaged asking if the sneakers belonged to us. I'm fairly aghast at the stained pillow as we possibly had slept on it without knowing it was dirty. The apartment looked a lot more well-kempt and new in the photos.
